Inner Glow: Female Cycling

I have ridden with Team Glow – the all female cycling network founded by the world record-breaking Glynis Francis for a few years now. It all started in 2011 with her successful bid to get one hundred women cycling in the ‘Manchester 100’ sportive.

Cycling Japan.

On the plane over to Japan, I’d read about a cycling road – ‘Shimanami kaido’. It starts in Onomichi (Hiroshima Prefecture) and via various suspension bridges ends in Imbari. I had to go there… shimanami_kaido_map This clip made me smile and reminded me of how travelling makes you feel so alive. It inspires me to go back to Japan one day with my own bike to explore the whole of Shimanami kaido and cycle tour around the country. Visiting Japan was a dream that I worked hard to make come true. Maybe Japan 2.0 – with bikes can be another one.

Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway.

The question I have been asking myself is, am I brave and capable enough of being as adventurous as I would like to be. To go cycle touring  on my own for example. I say yes of course, but I’ve yet to do it. There’s nothing actually stopping me from booking a flight to Milan with my bike and meandering my way to Italy’s Stelvio Pass on a scenic railway journey, that undoubtedly would make my heart sing and wonder what the hell I was ever worrying about…
